We just had a whole week devoted to appreciating teachers. But, why should they get all the fun? There are so many people that make the school year successful and keep our children safe and happy. As I was making this little gift, I kept thinking that those little candy bars would make the cutest little buses! And I was right!
You know by now, that I have a little love affair going on with these Hershey Nuggets. They are the most fun candy to work with. And they taste great too! To make these little gems, just follow the steps below:
1. Print out this lovely free printable!
2. Cut-out the "buses" and the bag topper.
3. Wrap the "buses" around a Hershey Nugget and secure in place with tape or glue. I like to use glue dots.
4. Punch some small circles out of black card stock. Glue them onto the buses for wheels.
5. Toss your "buses" into a cellophane bag.
6. Fold your bag topper in half and staple over the cellophane bag.
7. Greet your bus driver with this little goodie tomorrow morning and let them know how much you appreciate them!
UPDATE: The original printable above did not have "wheels" on the bus. I did this on purpose because I didn't like the look of the wheels wrapping around underneath the bus (see step 4). But I have added an additional printable to save you the extra step of punching and gluing if you are interested. Click here.

DeleteI absolutely love this "Lil Bus" idea however I cannot get the printable? What am I doing wrong, I clicked and it gave me an error message. :-(
DeleteI am so sorry. I have no idea why it is not working for you. Maybe the hosting site was having temporary issues? If you are still having trouble, shoot me an email and I will send you the file directly.
DeleteKudoes, this is just way tooooo cute! I do know an older bus driver who could use this as a "pick me up"! TYT

ReplyDeleteHaha. Thanks Katie!
ReplyDeleteThese are so very cute. I love them. I am going to make some up for the boys next door to give to their bus driver but when I printed them out I noticed that you forgot to put the wheels on. Hope you will fix the download so I can continue printing.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all your creativity and being willing to share with us all.
Have a wonderful and blessed weekend.
Lorraine, I have added an update to my post, explaining why I didn't have wheels on the original printable. I have also added another link for you that should allow you to print with wheels. Hope that helps! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI saw these and just have to say thank you for remembering bus drivers!!! So rarely do people think to thank them and they have an incredible responsibility!

ReplyDeleteThese are SO dang cute! How creative you are! I made these to give this year and featured them on my blog with a link to your post. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAnyone having trouble with the printable being too small??? i have tried several times, but it keeps printing the same size & doesn't even completely cover the nugget!! I'm so sad, because our last day of school is tomorrow, and these are so cute! Any suggestions????
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that you are having trouble. Are you downloading from the link? Are you printing with wheels or without? I don't have any idea why it would print small. I've printed it several times straight from the link at Box and haven't had any trouble at all. Check your printer settings maybe? Anyone else have a suggestion?
ReplyDeleteI don't know what program you are using to open the file, but make sure that you are expanding the printable to fill the entire page before you print. It's meant to use an entire sheet of paper. The bus strips should measure three inches long.
DeleteThese are incredibly cute. We love our bus drivers and want to use them, but I'm concerned about the yellow ink it will take. Is it possible to do one that's just the black for the buses, and I can print them out on yellow paper? I don't know how hard that would be, but I would really appreciate it! Thanks so much for the adorable idea.
ReplyDeleteMegan, if you will shoot me an email I will see what I can do.
DeleteThese are so cute, thanks so much for sharing. My granddaughter just finished kindergarten and has the best bus driver. Together we made and packaged these, it was too adorable! Again, thanks for generously sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteJust made these this a.m. for my son's bus driver who is awesome! They turned out super cute! Thanks for sharing your talent :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so cool! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI passed these out today on our last day of school to our bus drivers. They loved them! thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute. Thank you for sharing :) I opened it in Publisher and put the bus route and Bus Drivers name on them for a personal touch ;) Love them!
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable! I've pinned them to my back to school board and would love for you to share on next Wednesday's link party on blog.thecelebrationshoppe.com ~ so clever!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim--I'd be thrilled to link up! Thanks for the invite!
ReplyDeleteI too am having problems with it only wanting to print on half a sheet, there is no where in that "box" print program that I can change. I downloaded it and opened it up in another program and it printed with no yellow. I don't know what I am doing wrong, were you ever able to help that other lady? I have a son with special needs and the bus driver and helper this summer have been amazing with him and just thought these would be so fun for them.
ReplyDeleteMandy, send me your email likeaprettypetunia@gmail.com and I will send you a PDF file. Sorry that you are having trouble. I would love to help!
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm the chairperson for our PTO Staff Appreciation committee and I wanted something inexpensive to make up for our bus driver appreciation breakfast. These are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! Thank you!!!

Hi Julie ~
ReplyDeleteI work as a secretary in our school district's transportation dept and these are adorable! I would love to print these to hand out to all of our drivers, but I am having so much trouble getting it to even pull up. Could you also email me the PDF? dawngerts@yahoo.com - thank you so much!
Happy to see your blog as it is just what I’ve looking for and excited to read all the posts. I am looking forward to another great article from you.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to have this printable! I can't open it though. Could you or someone email it to me at jbwilson.jw@gmail.com? Thanks a million!
ReplyDeleteEvery year, big yellow buses take to the roads from August to May to pick up children and take them to and from school. Riding the bus is a great way for kids to get to know neighborhood children as well as classmates. However, if the bus driver acts erratically or drives recklessly, it can put your son or daughter in serious danger due to the lack of seat belts and other safety features on a bus.
